On this day the Lord has acted; *
we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
This week we are immersed in God's actions through Jesus Christ. Tonight we share a meal with each other, a most intimate act. Then we go to the sanctuary for our Maundy Thursday service, which includes the most intimate act of washing of feet. We end with the stark reminder of the violence that Jesus Christ endured in his betrayal and trial after a meal with his beloved disciples.
On Friday at noon, we'll walk through the square of Newport meditating on the hymn, "Were You There?" Then at 7pm we gather in our sanctuary to pray and hear once again what Jesus endured out of great love for us.
Finally through the silence of Saturday, we arrive at the holiest day of our Christian year...Easter. We remember that the Lord indeed did act and we rejoice, because nothing could kill Jesus...nothing could kill total and pure love.
Many blessings as you finish your week!
Love, Rebecca+
