This Sunday

Pentecost, Baptisms of Scott, Ava and Oscar Bucher

Parish Administrator June 05, 2019
This Sunday (June 9, 2019) at The Church of the Nativity and St. Stephen

 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; *
I will praise my God while I have my being. Psalm 104:34

This Sunday is Pentecost. On the first Pentecost, people were gathered in Jerusalem from many places, because they were celebrating a major feast at the Temple. The Holy Spirit came like flames of fire on their heads. And people sang in many languages.

Our Psalm this week encourages us to praise God throughout our lives.

American Baptist minister, Robert Wadsworth Lowry captured this Psalm in his hymn, How Can I Keep From Singing.

The refrain goes:

No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that refuge clinging;
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,
How can I keep from singing?

No matter what is happening in the world or in our communities or in our lives, our faith in Jesus Christ provides peace and strength. Nothing can keep us from singing.

Many blessings as you finish your week.

Love, Rebecca+
