Send out your light and your truth, that they may lead me, *
and bring me to your holy hill
and to your dwelling Psalm 43:3
I was drawn to this verse from our Psalm this Sunday, because I remember my uncle praying it prior to preaching a sermon. My Uncle Ray was a powerful preacher, who significantly shaped my life.
This verse is in the middle of a Psalm that also laments and even wonders if God has abandoned us or whether God is near. Sometimes we do not feel God's presence. Sometimes we feel like God is nowhere to be found.
Yet, the psalmist reminds us that even in these circumstances, we continue to pray and cry out to God. We continue to ask God to send God's light and God's truth to us and to the world. We know it is this light and this truth that will lead us in our lives. It is God's light and God's truth that will allow us to feel God's presence near us.
Each day we can pray, "Send out your light and your truth, that they may lead me...."
Blessings as you finish your week. Look forward to seeing you at the Church picnic at 11am on Sunday!
Love,
Rebecca+
