This Sunday (July 28, 2019) at The Church of the Nativity and St. Stephen

This Sunday

Michele Neibert, Parish Administrator July 24, 2019
This Sunday (July 28, 2019) at The Church of the Nativity and St. Stephen

Our Gospel from Luke this Sunday includes Jesus teaching the Disciples how to pray. You probably know Jesus taught them The Lord's Prayer. It is a perfect prayer, isn't it?

First of all, we acknowledge God as our parent. God is not distant or uninvolved in our lives. We are God's children. We ask for God's kingdom to reign on earth. We know what we create as earthly governments and communities often falls short and we keep moving towards a more perfect way of living with each other. We ask for that we be fed, which is essential to our lives. We acknowledge that we sin and ask for forgiveness. We also acknowledged that we forgive others. We ask for and give compassion. We also ask to be delivered from the time of trial.

This prayer is found in the earliest documents of the Christian faith, having been said for thousands of years! Each Sunday, as we say this prayer, we add our voices to the many who have gone before us and create a foundation for the many who will come after us.

Many blessings as you finish your week.

Love, Rebecca+
