Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might come among us; and, because we are sorely hindered by our sins, let your bountiful grace and mercy speedily help and deliver us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen. Collect for Advent III, p. 212, Book of Common Prayer
Are you like me? As the days get shorter and sometimes grayer, and the nights get longer, I almost go into hibernation. I do not want to leave the house as much. I even sleep longer. It's probably a good reaction to the season. We do need those down times and rest times.
Yet, sometimes, we linger just a little too long in them. This Sunday we ask God to come to us with great might. We ask God to move us from our complacency, maybe from our routine. We can fall into a rut of sorts in our life. Now is the time to examine ourselves to see how our current lives align with Gospel of Jesus Christ. Is God asking us to move, both individually and as a community, to a different place or to different work?
Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might come among us...
Blessings,
Rebecca+
