It will be said on that day,
Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us.
This is the Lord for whom we have waited;
let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Isaiah 25:9
Our holy week journey is a roller coaster of emotions. We started in the parking lot on a chilly Sunday morning. We waved our palms and heard about Jesus entering Jerusalem to acclamations of joy and praise. A few days later, Jesus is betrayed by one of his disciples, put on trial, and executed in a most horrible way.
This Sunday, we learn how even with all of the horrible things that happened, God continued to save us, love us, and forgive us.
Our remaining services this week allow us to walk with Jesus. They allow us to examine ourselves, too. Where and when are we Peter or Judas or the crowd or the women at the foot of the cross?
Then on Easter Sunday, we are glad and rejoice with abandon. Because in the resurrection, we rest in the assurance that we are forgiven and we are loved deeply.
I hope to see you Thursday and Friday and to rejoice and be glad with you on Sunday!
Love,
Rebecca+
