A note from the Rector…
As I write this, it’s a warm, sunny day, finally! Soon, children will be out of school. Graduations will be held. Gardens planted. We’ll be in the long, warm (hot) days of summer. We’ll have weddings to attend. Vacations to go on. There will be swimming, boating, and camping.
It’s also the beginning of the church season of Pentecost. Pentecost is the longest season of the church year, usually close to six months in length. It takes us through the seasons of late spring, summer and most of fall. Another name for Pentecost is Ordinary Time or time through the year.
This year, we’ll be focusing on learning about Jesus Christ through the Gospel of Luke. This Gospel takes place in mostly urban settings. It emphasizes that Jesus’ teaching is for all people. It emphasizes discipleship.
We live most of our lives in ordinary time. It’s good to consider how we are disciples of Jesus, personally and as this faith community. While for many of us our routine shifts in the summer season, we are nonetheless called to be Jesus’ disciples in our world.
Many blessings during this season!
Love, Rebecca+
