A note from the Rector…
Friends, I love October. No matter how many years I’ve seen the leaves change in the fall, I am always inspired, amazed and awed by the beauty of it, especially when you see a whole mountain of color. This area is truly gorgeous this time of year. I also like the crisp, cool air and pleasant days after the heat of summer. Many years ago, I wrote this poem in October:
CHANGE (by Rebecca Myers, 2004) For a moment, the sky was red purple And I opened the curtains of this small hotel room wider to see its beauty Now it’s gone
You said change is the only constant And the trees were aflame with change from dark green To red yellow orange Taking my breath away Only change towards dying could provide such beauty
And even the death of the leaves makes way for The buds and flowers of spring
Nature shows me the beauty of change Yet I resist it still . . . .
