Collections for Neighbor Helping Neighbor Food Bank
The November items are: Canned Meats: Tuna, Chicken, Ham, etc. and Foil and Plastic Wrap.
The Annual Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 19 at the end of the church service.
A pot-luck lunch will follow. We will vote on the 2024 budget, as well as elect leadership for 2024.
Join Hands Christmas 2023
Thank you for sponsoring a child/children for Christmas. We appreciate your help in making the holiday happy for a Perry County child. If you drop off your gifts at Join Hands prior to November 30, please let Gail (717-439-5541) or Darlene (717-979-0923) know, so they don’t panic!
Please use the following tips to make the process smoother and ensure the gifts get to the right child.
•Have your gifts to church by November 30. Place them in the provided bag with the child’s number. Anything that doesn’t fit in the bag should have the child’s number securely attached and visible.
•You may include gift boxes/bags, wrapping paper and tape.
•Ideally each child should receive an outfit and 2-3 toys/gifts. Do not feel obligated to purchase everything listed for gift ideas. These are simply options for you to choose. Gifts must be new and unused. Candy and food items are not passed along as food allergies are unknown.
•Please do NOT wrap the gifts. This allows parents to be included by wrapping the gifts themselves and also allows them to purchase other gifts without duplication.
Thank you so much for your support- it is wonderful that we can bring Christmas joy to so many children in need!
Wreaths Across America:
Gail Shull will be taking orders for Wreaths Across America at a cost of $17.00. This is nationwide event. On December 16th, the nonprofit organizations taking orders will then be placing the wreaths on the graves of thousands of veterans. Checks should be made payable to Perry County Chapter DAR.
Don’t Be Scammed, a PA State Police presentation about Scamming and Fraud, Sunday, November 12, 1 – 3pm, Newport Assembly of God Family Life Center, 27 W. Shortcut Road, Newport
Learn red flags and how to avoid being scammed. Appropriate for all adults, especially senior citizens, teens and young adults.
Volunteer for the Perry County Warming Center
Individuals or groups who have an interest in helping are welcome. Please email keepingperrywarm@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer or want more information before committing to volunteering.
Volunteers Needed to Help with Money in Your Pocket Free Tax Prep Program
Volunteers are needed to offer free tax preparation to help working families receive the federal and state tax credits they are eligible for. The service is offered through the Money in Your Pocket (MIYP) program, a community partnership led by United Way of the Capital Region that is committed to the economic stability of local families.
