Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery established the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all who have been reborn into the fellowship of Christ's Body may show forth in their lives what they profess by their faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. I was struck by the words in our Collect this Sunday: "...the new covenant of reconciliation." What does this mean, I wondered?
Well, page 851 of the Catechism in the Book of Common Prayer provides some answers. We have a new covenant or promise or agreement with God based on what Jesus taught us:
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the
first and great commandment. And the second is like
it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
We should also love one another as Christ loved us.
Reconciliation is the restoration of our relationship with God. Loving one another is the way we get closer to God. Loving one another as Christ loved us - prayer, forgiveness, mercy, humility, service, compassion - restores our relationship with God.
Blessings during this Easter time as we continue to show Christ's love and to strengthen our relationship with God.

The Anti-Racism Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey Spring Session of its 20 hours of online Anti-Racism Training via Zoom.
The training consists of five consecutive Friday evening Zoom sessions from 7pm - 9pm, self-study materials you complete in between the Friday Zoom meetings, and a follow-up session four weeks later.
