Loading...How shall I repay the Lord *
for all the good things he has done for me? Psalm 116:12
This week, the writer of Psalm 116 asks an important question in verse 12 above. Frankly I don't think we can ever fully repay God for all of the good things we've received.
Yet, we do our best, don't we? This week, I've been immersed in how to lower my carbon footprint. The Environmental Stewardship Committee has received the report from Envinity, who conducted an energy audit of the church. The recommendations from this audit will allow us to lower our carbon footprint and to save money on utility costs as well.
We can repay God by doing good for the earth God has created for us to live in. We can repay God by saving money in one place (utilities) and having more to spend on the mission God has called us to in this place.
You will hear more from the Environmental Stewardship Committee about the ways we hope to support the good climate of our earth through our church. We also can look at our individual lives and find ways to live that support the earth's good environment. Interfaith Power and Light is a good place to start. //www.interfaithpowerandlight.org/
God has created a good earth for us to live upon. Let us repay God for this wonderful gift by caring deeply for it.

People’s Climate March, April 29,

Volunteers needed for Newport Ministerium summer breakfast/lunch program, Perry Manor, 9am – noon, Fridays from June 16 – August 18. Volunteers are needed to assist with serving a simple breakfast and lunch for children at Perry Manor. Volunteers will also assist with activities designed and led by the CASSP program. Tickets are now available for the Race for Reading to benefit Perry County Literacy Council, Saturday, May 6, Little Buffalo State Park, 5pm. Dinner tickets are $35. A pre-race Mint Julep Party in memory of Susan Connell will be held at the home of Todd Saner, at 4pm. Tickets for the pre-race party are $50.00. Take Action on Hunger in Haiti Today!Six months after Hurricane Matthew slammed into Haiti, 1.5 million Haitians remain food insecure. As our world's climate changes, Haitians have endured catastrophic droughts, destructive floods and repetitive hurricanes which exacerbate existing agricultural challenges and erode development gains. Haitians depend upon international support and technical assistance from the United States, and in celebration of Earth Day, you can join members of the Haiti Advocacy Working Group (HAWG) in raising our voices for sustainable development aid and climate change action.
