Do not remember the former things,

If you are on Facebook, you know that nearly every day, you are reminded of memories you have from this same day in the past. I don't always look at them, but sometimes I find such fun memories and photos of special events from years ago. A favorite line from a Simon and Garfunkel song, Bookends, goes, "Preserve your memories; they're all that's left you."
Yet, some memories are not so fun or special. Some memories are challenging and reminders of difficult times or of things that we would rather not remember.
The writer of Isaiah reminds us that time moves on. We need not cling to the past, because God is doing a new thing. When we cling to the past, we miss the new thing God is doing. We cannot perceive it. Even while we reminisce, let us be open to the new thing that is springing forth right before us.

United Thankoffering Ingathering, Sunday April 14.
United Thankoffering is a project of the Episcopal Church Women. Boxes are available to collect your offering, which is brought to church twice a year. A wonderful spiritual practice is to put something in the box each time you are thankful to God. If possible, count the money in your box and write a check to the church in that amount.
