Arise, O God, and rule the earth, *
for you shall take all nations for your own. Psalm 82:8

What do you envision when you think about what our world would look like if God's kingdom or God's rule prevailed?

I know I'd love to see a world similar to the one envisioned in the United Nations Millenium Development Goals. https://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/ I would love to see a world where everyone has at least the basic human needs, clothing, food, and shelter, as well as the ability to develop as fully as possible into the person God created them to be.

We get distracted by many things, often pulling our attention away from what we can do to love God, love our neighbor as we love ourselves. We can also become overfocused on ourselves, rather than thinking about ourselves in community with others. What would work for the whole?

Are we ready for God's rule? What will be do with our little time on this earth to embody God's justice and love for all?

Blessing,

Love,

Rebecca+

Creation Care Committee
Many of our parishioners and churches are working to improve the environmental health of our world- a committee that would simply coordinate and share resources across the diocese would be valuable. Others may find themselves impassioned to join a collaborative effort in the diocese to offer a stronger collective voice and make use of budgeted diocesan monies for action. Are you interested in this work? If so, please email Carolyn Patterson at cpatterson@diocesecpa.org by September 1 and we will set up an organizing zoom meeting for the fall.

Violence, War, and Christian Peacemaking, led by Josh Davis, Ph.D., Thursdays, September 8 - October 13, 2 - 3:30pm
Jesus is clear that it is the peacemakers who are blessed, and this is what his disciples are to be. But Christians have disagreed for centuries as to just what it means to be a peacemaker. Does it mean that Christians are obligated to refuse the use of all violence? Does it allow for participation in warfare? If so, when is it justified and when is it not? What constitutes violence? Are some forms of coercion right and others wrong? These are the kinds of questions Christians have reckoned with over the centuries. In this course, we will consider these questions and more by reading and discussing some of the most compelling arguments on all sides of these questions. All class meetings will occur on Zoom.
