Grant, O merciful God, that your Church, being gathered together in unity by your Holy Spirit, may show forth your power among all peoples, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
One of the best things about many churches, but especially The Episcopal Church, I think, is that we can be in unity without having to agree 100% on everything. Now, there certainly are some bottom lines that form our foundation, including that we are a Christian church and follow Jesus Christ. Yet, there is room for great understanding in what that means.
What brings unity is that we worship together. What brings unity is our following the command of Jesus Christ to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves.
During this time when we feel so much division, what a blessing to be part of a worshipping community that has unity in diversity. It is truly powerful.
Love,
