Happy are they who observe his decrees *
and seek him with all their hearts! Psalm 119:2

This week, I've been thinking about elections and our national life. A candidate for state legislature spoke at our Rotary meeting. Rep. Mark Keller is retiring, so this is an open seat.

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry also  appeared in a video inviting us to "turn and pray on behalf of our nation" as part of our Lenten practice for 2020. The Presiding Bishop, along with a variety of other religious leaders, is planning to fast each Wednesday from Lent through the end of our church year - the day before Thanksgiving. Watch the video and read the transcript here: https://bit.ly/2SP5Wxt

For the Rotary meeting, I lead the group in prayer. On Tuesday, I read our prayer for elections, found on page 822 in the Book of Common Prayer

Almighty God, to whom we must account for all our powers and privileges: Guide the people of this community in the election of officials and representatives; that, by faithful administration and wise laws, the rights of all may be protected and our nation be enabled to fulfill your purposes; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us all pray for our upcoming elections and for those running for office. May they embody the joy of following the decrees of God and seeking God with all of their hearts.

Blessings as you finish your week!

Love, Rebecca+
