This verse of Psalm 2 always reminds me of the air from Part II, Scene 6 of The Messiah, Why do the Nations So Furiously Rage Together. This portion of the Oratorio speaks to the rejection of Christ as Savior. Here's a beautiful version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNcZgu9yFjU
We are on the cusp of liturgical seasonal change.... At the end of Epiphany where we rejoice in the light that Jesus brought into the world and the light we as his followers are to the world and at the beginning of the time of Lent, a season of preparing for the days of Jesus' passion and resurrection. We go from the raucus, shiny joy of Jesus living on earth, teaching us and walking with us, to the contemplative, penitential time of our rejection of Jesus and his ultimate victory over our rejection...his ultimate and deep love for us.
It is in this change of seasons that everything is upended and shifted. We are moved out of our complacence. We must pay attention once again. We must adjust ourselves to this different time. In that shift, we sometimes rage and threaten and become angry. It's all part of our lives in Christ. May we move into this new season and find our peaceful center soon.

Parlor People, Sunday, 11am – noon. All adults are welcome to participate in Parlor People nearly every Sunday. See our Christian Formation page for more information. This Sunday, Jane Hoover shares her recent visit to Cuba. March 5 – April 2, we begin our Lenten discussion on forgiveness, using The Book of Forgiving by Desmond and Mpho Tutu. Copies of the book are available for $10 in the parlor.

You may receive the wine by common cup or by dipping your wafer into the chalice. If you would prefer to receive a blessing, please come forward and cross your arms across your chest.
This Sunday we take an additional offering for our Building Fund. The money donated helps us pay down our mortgage and pay for major repairs.
