This Sunday

Jesus answered, ‘You faithless and perverse generation, how much longer must I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.’ Luke 9:41

This Sunday is the last Sunday in Epiphany. On this Sunday, we always hear the story of the transfiguration. Remember how Jesus took Peter, John and James up to the mountain to pray and they had a terrifying and powerful experience?

Tacked on to the end of this reading is what happens when Jesus comes down from the mountain. It's back to daily life. There is a large crowd and a man needs his son healed. When we read verse 41, listed above, it seems like something someone who is frustrated would say, doesn't it?

Jesus calls the people faithless and perverse. Then he wonders how long he must put up with them. Jesus goes on to heal the man's son. Yet, I think we can all relate to being at the "end of our rope" and tired of dealing with the same things over and over again.

When we reach that point, we know Jesus is with us and has been there, too.

Love,

Rebecca+

Your Donation to the "Love of Learning" Scholarship Will Help More Students
Our goal is a permanent fund of $100,000 so the earnings allow us to give more scholarships.  Having teachers who are Black or Brown in a classroom has proven to be effective in increasing educational attainment for children who are Black or Brown. We are asking you to commit to giving $1,000 over the next 5 years to allow us to provide even more scholarships. That's $200 per year or $50 per quarter or $17 per month. Give directly to the scholarship online through The Foundation for Enhancing Communities at:  https://www.tfec.org/scholarships/dr-george-h-and-hettie-s-love-love-of-learning-scholarship-fund/ or mail a check payable to TFEC - Love of Learning Scholarship, 200 N. 3rd St., 8th Floor, Harrisburg, PA 17101.
