What is freedom to you? In our country, we often talk about freedom and the rights we have to be free or pursue liberty. Especially with the pandemic, we have seen the debate over rights sharpen. How do we balance individual rights and community rights?
Our prayer this Sunday tells us that sin keeps us from being free. Sin is anything that separates us from God. If the greatest commandments are to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves, a somewhat simplistic analysis for us to use would be to test our ideas and actions against how they measure up with loving God and loving our neighbor as ourselves.
It is in being free from sin that we have true freedom and abundant life.
