This Sunday

This Sunday (January 17, 2021) at The Church of the Nativity and St. Stephen
Shine with the radiance of Christ's Glory

Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen. Collect for the Second Sunday after the Epiphany, p. 215, Book of Common Prayer

When you are talking about one of your favorite subjects or something about which you are passionate, do people tell you that you light up? That's what I think about when I read this prayer, which is our Collect for this Sunday. We ask God to grant us, God's people, to shine with the radiance of Christ's glory.

As a result of your faith and following Jesus Christ, what makes you shine? What makes you light up? Recently I was on a webinar where I heard new ideas about how to look at the future of the church. I was on fire, sharing what I'd heard with everyone I spoke to. Does helping others make you shine? Maybe it is your family. Maybe it is connecting with people in the parish. Maybe it is in the justice work you do. Maybe it is in your spiritual practices.

The light Christ gives to us  and is reflected by us changes the world. May it so shine.

Love, Rebecca+

COVID Alert PA App
The Department of Health has launched  the COVID Alert PA, https://www.pa.gov/covid/covid-alert-pa/.  This is a free mobile app that uses Bluetooth technology to let a person know that they have been exposed to COVID-19 without compromising the identity or location of either the person using the app, or of the person to whom they may have been exposed. The mobile app helps the contact tracing process by identifying and notifying those people identified as close contacts through Bluetooth technology when a person with COVID-19 does not know or remember everyone with whom they may have come in contact while infectious.

Our Shaped by Faith parish Team (Jill Hoover, Andrea Jezewski and Rebecca) ask you to please complete the survey on Anglican Identity. You can find it online here:

A hard copy of the survey was in your December newsletter and can be mailed to the Diocese if you would prefer.
