Hallelujah!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, *
in the assembly of the upright, in the congregation. Psalm 111:1
Science has proven that when we live in an attitude of gratitude, we feel better physically, emotionally and spiritually. Our Psalm this Sunday is a great prayer of gratitude for all that God has done for us.
This attitude of gratitude can be difficult for us now, because our lives are so different. We are weary and tired of this pandemic and yet still wary and fearful of it at the same time. We cannot move around or travel like we once did. We cannot mingle with each other. And while church on Zoom is better than nothing, it is really not the same. We are grieving; some of us grieving for lives lost from Covid-19 and some for our very changed daily lives.
So, we may not really feel like shouting Hallelujah. We may not feel energy and enthusiasm in giving thanks to God. Luckily, we can pray this Psalm. When we do not have the words, we can use the words already written and said throughout the ages.
