Give the King your justice, O God, *
and your righteousness to the King's Son;
That he may rule your people righteously *
and the poor with justice; Psalm 72:1-2
This year, Epiphany is actually on a Sunday. We hear the lessons about the wise men who traveled far because of the bright star in the sky leading them to an important birth. We know the story. Yes, a king was born and this king would embody the perfect king.
The Psalm we read this Sunday is a Psalm or prayer for a new king. The Psalm is full of a vision of a king who advocates for the poor and needy. The king will fight oppression. The king will work for justice for all people.
The longing and hope for such a king in this Psalm reminds us of the kingship of Jesus Christ. When we follow Jesus, we, too, advocate for people who are poor. We support people who do not have the very things needed for life. We work for justice.
Let us, like the wise men of old, be drawn to this beautiful king.

Unity Choir Forming for MLK Day Program
You are invited to be a part of a Unity Choir to celebrate our diverse musical traditions as part of a program to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday evening, Jan. 21 at First Christian Church, 442 Hummel Ave, Lemoyne. There will be two practices for the choir prior to the event: Monday, Jan. 7, 6:30 pm at First Christian Church and Monday, Jan. 14, 6:30 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1106 Capital St., Harrisburg.

A New Beginning #2, Retreat for Youth in Grades 6-8, Friday, April 5, 2019 – Sunday, April 17, 2019, Camp Mount Luther, Mifflinburg, PA.
