Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. This Sunday we observe the Baptism of our Lord. We will renew our baptism vows. I think our vows or promises are a wonderful guide for how to live our lives. Here are some key questions we are asked and our response:
Will you continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the
prayers?
People I will, with God's help.
Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord?
People I will, with God's help.
Will you proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ?
People I will, with God's help.
Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
People I will, with God's help.
Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?
People I will, with God's help.
These are good behaviors and attitudes to cultivate in our lives. We also admit in our responses that we need God's help to achieve them. We understand we are not perfect and we know the way to repent and return to God.
We are loved and forgiven.
Something to remember as we continue to follow Jesus Christ.

Collections for Neighbor Helping Neighbor Food Bank
We will be collecting specific items each month for the Food Bank. In January food items are Pasta, Pasta Sauce, and Parmesan Cheese. The personal care items are Shampoo, Body Soap and Hand Soap.

Ruth and Esther | Epiphany 2023
The Good Book Club will explore Ruth and Esther, books that explore the faithfulness and courage of two remarkable women. The stories of Ruth and Esther have much to teach us about the Hebrew concept of chesed, which means sacred kindness, as well as the willingness to be in sacrificial relationship with loved ones and our communities.
