Michele Neibert, Parish Administrator June 03, 2020
This Sunday (June 7, 2020) at The Church of the Nativity and St. Stephen

You have made him but little lower than the angels; Psalm 8:6

We are made "but little lower than the angels." I do love the image of angels. I guess it's my earliest contacts with church and God. I was Roman Catholic at the time and in our communion instruction, we were taught that each of us had a guardian angel.

My mother told me when she went to catholic school, she was told to not fully sit on her chair so her guardian angel could have a seat too. My mother loved depictions of angels and had quite a collection of figurines.

What is it about angels that pulls us towards them? Most times when angels appear in the Bible, about the first thing out of their mouth is "do not be afraid." Yet, we depict them as comforting and as protectors. They remind us of the presence of God. We see them as messengers from God.

Do angels appear to you? Sometimes we think of other people as angels, because they help us, because they protect us, or because they seem to bring us messages from God.

What messages are coming to us from God that we can only hear from the angels sent to us?

Love, Rebecca+
