For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. John 3:16
I had some extra time in California this past week, due to the snowy, stormy weather forecasts. This allowed me to catch up with a friend I've known for nearly 30 years. I rarely get to see Pastor Myrna Bernadel-Huey in person and yet we have managed to keep in touch for all of these years.
I met Pastor Bernadel-Huey when she was the chaplain at Cheyney University. She soon married and moved to the west coast. For the past fifteen years, she has been the pastor at First United Methodist Church in San Leandro, California, just outside of Oakland.
While there are so many beautiful things about this church and its ministries, I loved the cross at the front of the church, which is in the photo above. What a fantastic message people get walking into this worship space: "You are a Child of God."
This Sunday we hear the well-known verse from John about how much God loved the world...about how much God loves us. May we always remember that we are children of a loving God.
Blessings as you finish your week!
Love, Rebecca+
