No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other, ‘Know the Lord’, for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more. Jeremiah 31:34
What a wonderful vision we hear from Jeremiah this Sunday. All shall know God. Everyone can know God. It is not a matter of age or intellect or wealth...all can know God.
I think that's why I love that we offer Godly Play for our children and youth. Godly Play assumes that everyone has a sense of God...a certain understanding of God. What they don't necessarily have is the language to express themselves. Godly Play provides the language.
Children and young people hear the stories of the Bible. They hear the parables and see them acted out with figures. They then talk about what they think about the story. They put this into art. Recently, Alivia Hoover gave me a drawing of her conception of God. It's hanging in my office.
This passage also talks about how knowing God will be written on our hearts. It is through our very bodies that we understand and know God. As a result, we are transformed.
Many blessings as you finish your week!
Love, Rebecca+
