I don't know about you, but I am a planner for the most part. I know what I'd like to do and how I think it should go. However, in the past decade I learned to be more open to what God might have planned for me.
For instance, I never really mapped out my life thinking I'd live in big cities. I liked visiting them, but never thought I'd like living in them. Yet, as I knew I needed to take next steps in my career path, I was led to Washington, DC and then to seminary in New York City.
And the opportunities I had in my professional life in Washington, DC and then in my spiritual life and going to seminary were really not in my plans at all. And they were all so wonderful. They definitely exceeded what I had desired. I was awed, amazed and very grateful.
Loving God in all things and above all things allows us to be open to God's leading and many times that is just amazing.
