Almighty God, on this day you opened the way of eternal life to every race and nation by the promised gift of your Holy Spirit: Shed abroad this gift throughout the world by the preaching of the Gospel, that it may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. This Sunday is our annual observance of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit and birthday of the church. Red is the color and we will have balloons and geraniums and many of you will wear read.
The Collect for the day asks that this gift of the Holy Spirit be shared with people all over the world. "Shed abroad this gift," we pray. We are reminded that preaching the Gospel is the way this gift is shared to the ends of the earth.
Every week, we read from the Gospel, so there is the written word and last Sunday we heard a story about how powerful reading the Gospel is. And just as powerful is the Gospel that we ourselves embody in our daily lives and as a parish. As the saying goes, "You may be the only Gospel people read."
Let us continue to embody and be the Gospel to each other and to our community.

The meeting will be on Zoom and we are opening it up to anyone who would like to join. For the Zoom information, please contact Michele or Rebecca or a member of Vestry.

The May items are: Boxed Rice, Pasta, or Potatoes and Glass Cleaner and Spray Cleaners. The June items are: Canned Vegetables, Canned Fruits, Dish Soap and Sanitizing Wipes.

Church World Service (Harrisburg) World Refugee Day Block Party, Saturday, June 24, Noon to 3pm, Mackay & Front Streets, Rear Parking Lot
This event is rain or shine, will be free to attend, and has been created for our area’s residents to enjoy, including the new neighbors that we welcomed over the last year. Attendees can expect an afternoon of free fun for all ages, including free giveaways (while supplies last), games, activities, music, and art! Events are being sponsored by caring businesses and organizations in the area, including Diocesan Migration Ministry Resources.
Active, baptized members of the parish seeking their first college degree are encouraged to apply for the Kyle Weller Scholarship by June 1.

Hope Eternal Church has asked for assistance with their Hopeful Things store located on Penn Avenue. Nicole Kiefer has offered to volunteer.
Rebecca has also agreed to provide some "storage" space for coats and holiday items during the summer. Will use one of the rooms on the 2nd floor of the parish house for this. If you are interested in helping, please let Rebecca know. They are also accepting donations of clothing and household items. The store is open Wednesday from 9am to 1pm and Thursday from 6:30-8:30pm.
