The stitchers met at the church on Thursday morning. They will wore masks and distanced and were here for only a short time. They have been so busy.
Recently the group took hundreds of hats they'd made to the schools in Perry County, as well as the Newport Library to be distributed to children who need them. From the string of the yarn with the help of the knitter, comes a hat that provides warmth and beauty for many years.
Just so, God has knit us together. We are knit together with those who have gone before us. We are knit together with each other. Together we provide shelter, warmth, beauty and life.
Our prayer also reminds us that when we are knit together like this, we experience joys beyond description. Recently at my Aunt's funeral, we sang hymns (outdoors and in masks) that soothed us with the reality of these ineffable joys that my aunt knew were prepared for her. On the back of the little folder was a line from one of my favorite hymns, "Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well with my Soul."
May we continue to be knit together and rest in the ineffable joys prepared for us.

The market is sponsored by Friends of Newport and in addition to produce vendors, there will be artisans and craftspeople. Bootlleg Creamery will also have half gallons of ice cream in vanilla, chocolate, apple pie and pumpkin, in addition to cones and cups.

Diakon Adoption & Foster Care Orphan Sunday, November 8, 4 – 5pm, Online Event
Representatives from several local churches will lead us in prayer throughout the event.
God is vested, deeply and personally, in the plight of the orphan. In response to his call to care for the most vulnerable in our community, please join us as we recognize and lift up in prayer the areas within the child welfare system in Central Pennsylvania. This virtual event will feature speakers who will share about their own role and experience with the system. By providing an opportunity to hear directly from waiting children, families, caseworkers, and members of the judicial system, we hope participants will gain valuable insight into the areas that need both the most prayer and tangible support. Driving PA Forward is holding a unity parade on Tuesday, November 10.

The Driving PA Forward coalition is working on legislation so that people with a Tax ID number can obtain a PA Driver's license. Vestry endorsed this effort.
Join Hands in need of the following toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, body wash (we have plenty of soap!!), detergent, dish soap, feminine products.
They are also very low on sheets in all sizes ranging from twin to queen and will take gently used coats in all sizes, but they do put adult clothing in their community aid bin.
