This Sunday

Annual Meeting

Michele Neibert, Parish Administrator November 11, 2020
This Sunday (November 15, 2020) at The Church of the Nativity and St. Stephen

So teach us to number our days *
that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. Psalm 90:12

Our Psalm this week reminds us that our time on this earth when measure with eternity, is very short. Most of us do not like to think about our mortality. We easily make plans for tomorrow or next week or even next year. Sometimes we have an experience that reminds us of our mortality. We find it challenging.

Yet, our Psalm reminds us that we need to be ever mindful of our mortality. As many wise teachers have asked, how would we live if we were continually aware that we are dying? What would we do differently?

Our Psalmist says that when we live with our mortality in mind, our hearts are applied to wisdom. In other words, we do things differently. We are wiser.

We are challenged to live in this way. It is hard to talk about death in our culture. Our church community is a source of strength because we share a common faith. May we support each other in numbering "our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom."

Love, Rebecca+
