You are my helper and my deliverer; *

Sometimes life is really tough. Right now we are dealing with a worldwide pandemic, which has upended every way we live our lives. We want to get back to "normal," even as we all know some aspects of our lives have changed forever. We are adjusting as best as we can. While life is often uncertain, we are especially living in uncertainty. How bad will the winter be? Will there be a vaccine or better treatments or understanding of the virus by the spring, so that we can move around easier? Will there be some semblance of our lives before Covid? So many questions for which there are no answers yet.
Just like the Psalmist in our reading this Sunday, we are impatient. Verse 1 has the oft-said line, "O Lord, make haste to help me." In the midst of troubles and uncertainty, the Psalmist prays to God and remembers God's deliverance and greatness.
And so we, too, cling to God as our helper and deliverer in these times. And then in our impatience, we pray that God will not tarry.

Newport Christmas Farmer’s Market, Sunday, November 22, noon – 3pm
Friends of Newport has organized a Christmas Farmer’s Market in the parking lot and yard behind the parking lot at Nativity. In addition to produce vendors, there will be artisans and craftspeople. Bootlleg Creamery will also have half gallons of ice cream – vanilla, chocolate, apple pie and pumpkin, in addition to cones and cups.
The Annual Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 15 at the end of the church service.
We will vote on the 2021 budget, as well as elect leadership for 2021. The following have been nominated:

Diakon Adoption & Foster Care Orphan Sunday, November 8, 4 – 5pm, Online Event
Representatives from several local churches will lead us in prayer throughout the event.
God is vested, deeply and personally, in the plight of the orphan. In response to his call to care for the most vulnerable in our community, please join us as we recognize and lift up in prayer the areas within the child welfare system in Central Pennsylvania. This virtual event will feature speakers who will share about their own role and experience with the system. By providing an opportunity to hear directly from waiting children, families, caseworkers, and members of the judicial system, we hope participants will gain valuable insight into the areas that need both the most prayer and tangible support. Driving PA Forward is holding a unity parade on Tuesday, November 10.
You are welcome to watch safely from the steps of the PA Capitol Building in Harrisburg at 11am. The Driving PA Forward coalition is working on legislation so that people with a Tax ID number can obtain a PA Driver's license. Vestry endorsed this effort. Join Hands in need of the following toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, body wash (we have plenty of soap!!), detergent, dish soap, feminine products.
They are also very low on sheets in all sizes ranging from twin to queen and will take gently used coats in all sizes, but they do put adult clothing in their community aid bin.
The Pennsylvania Immigrant and Refugee Women’s Network (PAIRWN) is seeking volunteers who would like to work with immigrant and refugee students in Harrisburg area schools through our Family Advocacy Project’s Homework Help Program.
Volunteers will provide homework assistance and tutoring to immigrant and refugee students who are struggling to keep up in the virtual classroom setting. Every Wednesday, in partnership with John Harris High School’s social worker and ESL teachers, students and volunteers will meet in Zoom classrooms for an hour or two for the tutoring. All State clearances are required.
