But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it, 2 Timothy 3:14
From whom did you learn about faith? So many people taught me about faith from church leaders to church members to family to friends.
There was Mrs. Hessenberger, whom we called Mrs. Hessie. She was a church member who loved young people. She and her husband had never had children. As she aged, the youth group at church would go visit her on a regular basis. She had a prayer room in her home. She gave each one of us a prayer card with her favorite prayer on it. I remember her as joyous and always delighted to see us. I still have an Asian brass octagonal container that was filled with pennies when she gave it to me. And I have a black and white photo of her as a very young woman. It's in my bedroom where I can see her wonderful smile every day.
Mrs. Hessie made sure youth in the church could easily go to church camp in the summer and left money from her estate to help with that. She and her husband sponsored the candles for the Christmas Eve Candlelight service and they made sure the tradition would continue by a generous gift to the church.
This Sunday we receive all of the pledges and bless all of them. Our commitment to God and to this community of Nativity and St. Stephen helps us continue in the faith and help others continue in the faith, not only right now, but well into the future.
Blessings as you finish your week.
Love, Rebecca+

The Episcopal and Anglican churches along our southern border are helping shelter families who have been approved by the United States Government to seek asylum.
These families and individuals are awaiting their Asylum court dates. Right now, monetary donations are needed, because once families pass the first part of the asylum process, they are being sent to Mexico to await their court date. Monetary donations are the easiest way to help those churches shelter these individuals and families. Donations can be sent to: Diocese of the Rio Grande, 6400 Coors Blvd NW, Albuquerque NM 87120
