The apple tree in the backyard at Nativity was loaded with apples this year. Brett Ziegler, who oversees the garden, fashioned a hand apple picker and was able to harvest quite a few apples for the September Farmer's Market and for the food bank. The apples are small, crisp and on the tart side. 
This Sunday our Psalmist reminds us that the followers of God are like this wonderful tree in our backyard. I imagine that the ground around our church has access to good water, even when there is drought, because of the nearby creek and river.
And we, when we have access to what we need to be the people God created us to be, also bear good fruit in the proper season and continue to thrive. In due season...means when it is time. We don't have apples on our tree all year round, but only in due season, which for us is the fall. We thrive and are nurtured and at the right time, the fruit appears. The fruit we bear nourishes all that is around us, as well as ourselves.
Make sure you are getting the spiritual nourishment you need right now and in due season, you will bear marvelous fruit.

Join Hands in need of the following toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, body wash (we have plenty of soap!!), detergent, dish soap, feminine products.
They are also very low on sheets in all sizes ranging from twin to queen and will take gently used coats in all sizes, but they do put adult clothing in their community aid bin.
