When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, *
the moon and the stars you have set in their courses, Psalm 8:4
Psalm 8 is a wonderful Psalm of praise and thanksgiving. As I write this, it is Michaelmas or the feast of St. Michael and All Angels or Goose Day. This is the Psalm for the feast day, as well as the Psalm for this Sunday.
We are fortunate to live in a place where we see the beauty of the moon, stars and heavens. The seasons are changing from the lush green of summer to the cool, beauty of Fall. During the season we are using Eucharistic Prayer C, which reminds us of this beauty.
Yet, every day headlines remind us that much of creation as we now know it is being destroyed. We face challenging decisions. It can be hard to imagine living in a vastly different way, but maybe if we imagine the beauty we know disappearing, it can spur our imagination and fortitude to live differently.
May we consider the heavens and the work of God's creation and do all in our power to love it.
Love, Rebecca+

De-Colonizing Christ Visual Arts Exhibit, Riverfront Gallery, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral, 221 North Front Street, Harrisburg, Sundays through December 19, 12 – 3pm, free admission.
The exhibit presents 28 original works of visual art, which all present Jesus of Nazareth as a man who is not European. As part of our ongoing work toward dismantling racist systems and working toward racial justice, the Cathedral has envisioned this exhibit as an opportunity to consider Christ through images western Christian churches do not experience very often.
