Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight,

Whenever I see these words, I immediately hear Bob Marley, the reggae musician, singing them.
(https://youtu.be/4tAb5rYRXvs) This verse in scripture is a wonderful prayer. As we heard recently in a reading from James 3:5-8:
So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great exploits. How great a forest is set ablaze by a small fire! And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is placed among our members as a world of iniquity; it stains the whole body, sets on fire the cycle of nature, and is itself set on fire by hell. For every species of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by the human species, but no one can tame the tongue—a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
The words that come out of our mouths are certainly powerful. They can be for good or cause much harm. We must use great care when we speak.
We must also be careful with what we keep inside...in our hearts as the Psalmist says. Those things we brood upon can also lead us to words and actions that can be helpful or harmful.
So let the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in God's sight!

Discuss and share suggestions to fund critical issues facing county residents, businesses and organizations through State and Local Recovery Funds. Hearing meetings will be held at 25 West Main Street, New Bloomfield on October 1, 9-11am, October 4, 1-3pm and 6 – 8pm.
Memorial Booklet for Jean Tuzinski
A memorial booklet is being created for Jean Tuzinski. If you would like to share a short paragraph about Jean, how you met, something sweet or funny, a nice memory, etc., please email to Molly@MollyT.com by October 1.
Canal Day and Animal Blessing, Saturday, October 2, 9am – 2pm
We will have a table at Canal Day in Newport Square. If you are able to help, please let Rebecca know. Rebecca will conduct a Blessing of the Animals service at 11:30am. Bring your pet, or a photo to receive the blessing.
Graveside service for Jean Tuzinski, Sunday, October 17, 2pm, cemetery at their farm, 74 Thompson Lane Millerstown.
Bring a chair if you'd like to sit. If it is raining, then the service will be October 24.
Help fill our community food pantry!
Items that seem to be taken first include canned pasta meals, soups, and macaroni and cheese. Vegetables don't seem to get taken. Also, please don't use this as an opportunity to clear out your pantry if at all possible.
If you’d like to make a donation for the Commons and Gardens bags, please write a check to the church and put Commons / Gardens in the memo line.
In September, each resident will receive an apple, activity book and pen.
De-Colonizing Christ Visual Arts Exhibit, Riverfront Gallery, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral, 221 North Front Street, Harrisburg, Sundays through December 19, 12 – 3pm, free admission.
The exhibit presents 28 original works of visual art, which all present Jesus of Nazareth as a man who is not European. As part of our ongoing work toward dismantling racist systems and working toward racial justice, the Cathedral has envisioned this exhibit as an opportunity to consider Christ through images western Christian churches do not experience very often.
Join the Episcopal Church Office of Development, Wednesday, September 29, 5pm, as they host a webinar panel discussion highlighting the importance and history of two Episcopal Historically Black Colleges and Universities: Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina.
